The Campbell County Heritage Festival Committee, in cooperation with the Campbell County Recreation Department, is proud to offer the seventh annual Heritage Festival on Saturday, August 1, 2015. This one-day event will be held at William Campbell High School, adjacent to Community Park in Naruna, VA from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is $5 per person with children ages 10 and under admitted free of charge. All proceeds from the event will be applied to the development of Community Park.

Created to honor the area’s rich heritage, the festival will have educational and historical demonstrations, skilled crafters, food vendors, children’s activities and live musical entertainment. Food vendors will offer everything from barbeque and fish to hamburgers, hot dogs, funnel cakes, and ice cream!

Activities offered throughout the day will include oxen team pulls, various draft horse events, antique tractors and tractor games, tobacco twisting, corn husk doll demonstrations, apple cider making, basket weaving demonstrations, horse and buggy rides, coon dog “treeing” exhibitions, an antique car show and so much more!

Event planners aim to showcase the historic importance of growing and preserving food at home through the displaying and judging of citizens’ canned vegetables, fruits, pickles, jams and jellies. Homemade and home grown items may be entered in a variety of categories for review with prizes awarded in each class.

The Campbell County Farm Bureau and the Campbell County Extension Office have a wide variety of children’s activities planned. These activities will include a barrel train, corn box, petting animals, scavenger hunts, races and more! The Gladys Volunteer Fire Department will offer the fireman’s water line for all to enjoy. The future farmers of America will also be displaying their wood working skills. Students may also participate in an essay and picture contest or enter their work into the photography competition.
