2015 Children's Activities

Do you want to learn more about Agriculture and where your food comes from?  We have some exciting activities for you to participate in! The Virginia Department of Forestry will be there talking about their equipment and how to prevent forest fires! The Hill City Master Garners will be showcasing important tactics about gardening. The Virginia Cooperative Extension will be exhibiting a dairy calf, sheep, and a goat.  They will also have educational boards that show different parts of the animals, what products come from, and different breeds to name a few. Don’t forget the bees- we will have a beekeeper on site to explain beekeeping and how to collect honey from the hive. The local Campbell County 4-H will also be present and talking about what they do through the year like 4-H camp, 4-H clubs, and livestock show.  Our local Future Farmers of America (FFA) will be showcasing their woodworking projects and taking orders for next spring.  Along with all these educational components, we will be having a barrel train the children can ride on, a wooden dairy cow you can milk, and games! The Campbell County Farm Bureau Woman’s Committee is sponsoring a scavenger hunt and races that will take place multiple times during the festival. Races will include a sack race and an egg carrying race.  The scavenger hunt will include questions and stops to vendors to find out a new fact! Prizes will be awarded courtesy of the Campbell County Farm Bureau Woman’s Committee. Other games like corn hole and face painting will be available as well!

Can’t make it to the Festival? Don’t worry, we have other contests you can participate in! We have an essay and picture contest for elementary, middle, and high school students!
