There’s no doubt that anticipation is building in the area as the 9th Annual Campbell County Heritage Festival draws near!

From the clang of the blacksmith’s hammer to the gospel harmony on the music stage, everyone attending the festival will definitely be entertained and filled with excitement.

A step back in time will be observed through the various activities of the day.  From the draft horses pulling a log through an obstacle course, to the twisting of chewing tobacco, to handing green tobacco leaves and stringing it on a tobacco stick, to turning the apple cider mill or perhaps joining in on a few dance steps with flat footing or square dancing. The festival is filled with opportunities for you to experience the rich heritage of our area. Yes, the Epperson Brothers are back again this year as well as “Elvis” by Chris Ellis, and The Old Dominion Cloggers will be performing also.

Festival Chairman, J.D. Puckett is thrilled to have back the jumping mules this year and the draft horses. These are truly must see events! Also, this year we are highlighting the sheep herding demonstration by one of our local folks, Roy Johnson. Come and SEE his dog work at rounding up sheep and hear his story of sheep herding.

Don’t forget ladies, we have numerous vendors/crafters, with many of them demonstrating their crafts throughout the day. And of course you must see the spinning of yarn and take a stitch or two at the quilting bee. The day is not complete without a full schedule of Children’s Activities and games. Ride the Barrel Train, milk the cow, shell corn, feed the chickens, pet the sheep, these are just a few of the activities planned for the children about the good “Ole Days”.

From bluegrass music to wagon rides, barbecue to brunswick stew, kid’s activities to civil war games, there is something for everyone!  This is a “Family Event” filled with entertainment, historical re-enactment, lots of good food, and a fun day filled with Living History from the Good Old Days For ALL to Enjoy!

Come and bring a neighbor or two and see the new pavilion at the park, enjoy the day which begins at 10 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the Community Park adjacent to William Campbell High School.
